Southern Hawker-Both sexes have two broad green thoracic stripes and a conspicuous yellow triangle at the front of the abdomen .Most of the abdominal spots are green ,but those on segments 8-10 of the male are blue .Unlike those of other aeshna species,thespots on segments 9 and 10 are joind to form a band .This common species breeds in still water,including garden ponds;flies june to october.Upton Norfolk.
