White Admiral-A woodland butterfly, the white admiral is fast flying and alert to danger. However,it also feeds on the flowers of brambles and typically is reluctant to leave a good source of nectar .Consequently ,it can often be observed at close range for extended periods if you approach it without making any sudden movements. The blackish brown upperwings are marked with distinctive white bands ;the pattern of white is similar, but more extensive ,on the underwings, which have a rich orange-brown ground colour.Upton marshes Norfolk.
